Team Hargrove

My name is Sandra Hodgson. I’ve started this fundraising effort to help Kyle Hargrove and his family with medical and travel expenses related to Kyle’s sudden hospitalization. Kyle was on Spring Break this past week in Gulf Shores, Alabama with his girlfriend and college roommates. They were getting up Wednesday morning to start the drive back home, when Kyle woke up with tingling/numbness in his fingers, toes and abdomen. They drove him to a local urgent care center where he was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome, a condition that causes your immune system to attack your own nerve cells, causing muscle weakness, numbness/tingling in parts of your body as well as paralysis. Kyle was immediately airlifted by helicopter to a hospital in Pensacola, Florida where he is undergoing treatment. Within 24 hours of arriving at the hospital, Kyle was paralyzed from the neck down and was placed on a ventilator to ease his breathing and allow him to rest. He is receiving a treatment called "plasmapheresis" which removes the plasma from his body, filters it, and returns it to his body. The recovery process requires a long hospital stay and rehab, but he is starting to show improvement each day and is fighting hard. I think everyone will agree that it’s important that the Hargrove family be able to focus all of their energies on Kyle’s treatment and recovery. Donations will go directly to the family, and my hope is that we can help alleviate any financial stresses they may have as they help Kyle through this journey.
