Helping Palestinian and Syrian refugees
Donation protected
Hello Friends and Family!
I am fundraising for the Palestinian and Syrian refugees who live at Bourj al Shameli camp in Tyre, Lebanon. As many of you know, I have volunteered at this camp in the past with the LEAP program and I have gotten to know the community there very well. Bourj al Shameli, like all other Palestinian refugee camps throughout the Middle East, is supported by UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees). UNRWA's services include providing education, health care and other relief and social services to the refugees. The recent decision by the United States government to end aid to UNRWA has had devastating ramifications on the people who live at camps like Bourj al Shameli. The U.S's decision has taken away their basic services and aid with no alternative in sight in addition to exacerbating their already arduous plight. I am hoping to raise funds to donate to the families hardest hit by this decision. In the past, I have used your donations to contribute towards medical, food and clothing supplies for the most affected families at Bourj al Shameli. I plan to visit many of these families in March when I return to Lebanon and together with the camp's social worker, Abu Maher, will go house to house to make the donations. Your donation would so greatly help these people who are living in a desperate situation. Thank you so much for your support!
Love,
Kim
