Helping Paws for Katie Davis

My name is Chris Johnson and I’m the owner of Under One Woof in Antrim NH. Katie Davis has been part of our team/family since 2012 as groomer extraordinaire and one time daycare attendant. She has been a compassionate and loving caregiver for so many of our 4-legged clients and their families.

Many of you are already aware that Katie has been struggling with severe health issues in the form of liver disease. As of the end of August 2021, she was no longer able to work at all and underwent a series of tests which were expensive, difficult and time consuming before finally getting a diagnosis along with medications to help temporarily ease some of her symptoms. This allowed Katie to start working again in mid-October on an extremely limited basis. A treatment plan which consists of 3 months of a ridiculously expensive medication was prescribed, beginning a long and tedious process of obtaining assistance in covering the cost. Finally, by mid-November she was able to start her treatment with high hopes for relief. Unfortunately, the side effects have been severe and unpredictable which has at times kept her from working even her minimal schedule. Katie has 2 months to go with her treatment and there’s no way of knowing whether her side effects will diminish as time goes by.

Her general loss of income combined with medical bills has created the added stress of struggling financially, and so I’m reaching out to our community. Any amount, no matter how small, will help her to be able to concentrate on getting well physically while reducing the burden of worrying about how to manage financially. Katie wants to work, needs to work for her mental health if nothing else and is doing so as much as possible. This fund-raising goal will help to pay existing medical bills and to make up for some of her loss of income over these past 4 months. Please know that this is an exceedingly difficult ask for Katie. She has resisted my requests to do this for her up until now, which shows the level of need she’s now facing. Thanks in advance to all who are able to help her on this difficult journey.
