Helping Plum with Life Saving Surgery Expenses

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Vici and I’ve set up a fundraiser for my dearest friend/sister in law regarding life saving surgery and the expenses for it.

Plum has always had a history of having a ‘bad’ ear, that has included non stop infections, discharge and deafness. Luckily a few weeks ago a doctor referred her to a surgeon, which she had to pay for privately, as the doctor suspected it was Cholesteatoma, due to the nature of severity in her never ending ear infections.

A cholesteatoma is an abnormal collection of skin cells deep inside your ear. They're rare but, if left untreated, they can damage the delicate structures inside your ear that are essential for hearing and balance. A cholesteatoma can also lead to: an ear infection – causing discharge from the ear, which is what initially alerted the doctor, as Plum has had ongoing issues for years.

Cholesteatoma is a cystic non tumorous lesion of the temporal bone that has the ability to destroy nearby structures by its power to cause bone resorption and as a result, fatal complications prevail.
Cholesteatoma if untreated can erode bone, including the three bones of hearing, which may cause infection to spread to the inner ear or brain. These infections can lead to meningitis, brain abscess, facial paralysis, dizziness (vertigo), and even death.

Plum received the results today, that she has got Cholesteatoma, and that it is so severe she requires immediate surgery. Her incus bone (a small bone in the middle ear which transmits vibrations of the eardrum to the incus) is gone completely. Worst of all the tegmen tympan, which is a bone that separates the middle ear and Intracranial compartments, has thinned and has dihiscence (splitting, holes, bursting open).
The surgeon has given her a timeline of two months before the bone protecting her brain will been worn through if left untreated, which can be fatal.

Obviously due to the graveness of the situation Plum has to pay privately for surgery, as unfortunately the NHS is overwhelmed, and as stressed to her, time is now of the essence. Due to this I have started a Go Fund me to help her pay towards the surgery, and also help with the loss of her income - as recovery time for such an intrusive surgery is at least a month. Due to this she won’t be able to work adding more stress and a financial burden.

If you can please help with the smallest donation, it would be appreciated.

Thank you so much for reading and your help.

Edit: Surgery is going to cost a LOT of money as had confirmation today, so had to put the amount up. Any donations helps massively.
