Helping Polly, Wayne and family through Waynes recovery
Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Shawna, and along with Polly’s sister Shelley we are organizing this go fund me for Pauline Meyer (Polly) and her family.
Polly and Wayne have been married for 22 years ( married in 2002) and together for 10 years prior to that. They met when Polly was just 16 years old. Together they have two amazing kids Erika is 19 and Gavin is 15.
Polly’s husband Wayne went into the North Island hospital here in the Comox Valley on June 6th and was airlifted to Vancouver to St. Paul’s hospital on June 15th, where he was placed in the cardiac ICU.
On July 8th he had a double valve replacement and since then he has been in critical condition and is currently in the surgical critical care unit. His heart is looking good but they are waiting for his Kidney’s and other organs to recover. He is on dialysis and he has a breathing tube inserted until his body recovers more and can support breathing on his own.
Currently Polly and the kids are staying at the Times Square Hotel and Suites. Accommodations in Vancouver in the summer are next to impossible to get and very, very expensive. They have been paying $245 a night and since the start of July it went up to $270 a night during the peak season. The hotel keeps them on the cancellation list and shuffles them around so they can remain staying there.
The hotel is their safe haven while they are away from home. They have a suite, so they have a bedroom, a kitchen, washer and dryer and a roof top patio they can access with beautiful flowers and a bbq. It is a lovely place and the staff have been very accommodating.
The hotel is located about a 20 minute from the hospital and on a bus route which gets them to the hospital in about 10 minutes.
Wayne currently has a long road ahead of him for recovery and staying in Vancouver to be by his side has and will be very pricy. I’m asking any of you that can spare a few dollars to help out Polly and Wayne through his recovery. The last thing any family needs during stressful times like these is any sort of financial stress.
Polly and Wayne are both amazing people and we hope to be able to help them and their family out during these times.
With Polly’s approval I will post updates on Waynes condition.
Thank you
