Helping Porter & The Hunsaker Family through this cancer

After many friends and family have asked if we are going to have a go fund me or a way to donate we have decided to go ahead and set one up.
We really appreciate all the love and support that we have had so far and it really means a lot to know so many people are fighting with us for Porter.
Let me share why we are asking and what Porters journey looks like. On Thursday April 25th we took Porter to his pediatrician for a check up to see about some tummy bloating and hardness and that it just didn't look right. At that appointment they did an x-ray and noticed a mass like structure on the left side but couldn't really tell us what it was but asked that we go from there to primary children's.
Once we arrived at Primary Children's you could tell that what was happening with Porter was different because of the way they were acting after an ultra sound and CT scans it was determined Porter had a large Wilms tumor on his left kidney.
We were admitted and taken to a room Friday morning it was decided that Porter would have surgery to remove the left kidney and 7 lymph nodes. Porter went in Saturday morning and had his chemo port installed and then the kidney and lymph nodes removed taking 5 and a half hours.
He did so amazing and was so strong and brave. After surgery they started testing the kidney and lymph nodes to find out if there was any spread and what the histology of it might be to determine what the battle plan was.
During the wait Porter was just trying to recover and get filling better being way stronger then he knows. After a few days we got the first news that 2 of the lymph nodes closet to the kidney had tested positive so the decision was made that he would need radiation making it an automatic stage 3 cancer.
Thursday May 2nd porter went to the Huntsman's Cancer Institute to have his mapping for radiation and small black marks so that every time he does it they make sure it goes right in the left flank. After we got back to Primary Children's we received the news we had been waiting for Porters tumor came back with favorable histology giving him the best chance at whooping this thing.
At that time we learned that Porter will do 6 days of radiation and at the same time 6 months of chemo. During that time at 6 weeks they will rescan porter and make sure things look good and then also have info back on gene mutations that way they know if he can stay on his current schedule or if the treatment plan could change.
Which brings us to now after many family and friend conversations we have decided to set up this go fund me and the main reason being so we can both be with Porter every step of the way I will be able to be off work with FMLA but won't be getting paid so we decided that any money we receive we will place in a separate account and only use when I miss days of work or if Porter needs medication and of course medical cost.
After Porter beats this and gets his port out and we know that he will be back to doing normal 4 year old things any money left in that account will go to family's that have found themselves in the same situation as us and to gifts for children at Primary Children's.
We will set a goal and if we go under no big deal and if we go over that's amazing we will make sure that any money you donate will be used for Porter and to make sure he gets back to normal and then will be paid forward to help other children like Porter.
Anyone that knows myself and Chelsea knows that it's not easy to take anything from anyone and we have always taken pride in taking care of ourselves but it really is going to take a village to get our little boy back to where we want him to be, we are so grateful for all those wanting to help.
