Helping refugees on the Poland-Ukraine border
Donation protected
On Tuesday 8th March 2022, Alex Donnelly, Mike Grundy, and myself (Vanessa Grundy), will be travelling to the Poland-Ukraine border to deliver essentials to refugees fleeing from the devastating and unprovoked war in Ukraine by Russia, and transporting as many people as we can back to safe accommodation in Krakow.
Once we arrive in Krakow and pick up the minivan, we will buy as many essentials as we can including food, water, toothbrushes/toothpaste, shampoo, gloves/scarves/thermals (adults and childrens), sanitary products, bandages, nappies, sleeping bags, blankets etc, before driving to the Korczowa - Krakovets border (approximately 2hrs 45mins away). Here we will hand out all packages to refugees arriving in Poland before driving as many people as we can back to a safe destination in Krakow offering accommodation to refugees fleeing the war. We will repeat this until we've run out of funds.
Our connection to Ukraine: the three of us along with other friends from the Wirral have been working in Ukraine since 2015 for DEC Camp whose main office is based in Kyiv, and camps based mainly in Kyiv and in Migovo near Chernivtsi. We all have so many Ukrainian friends who are currently fighting for their lives. Some of their hometowns have already been destroyed, some are living in the metro/basements to flee from the horrors above, some were out of the country when the war began and are praying they will see their families again, and some have been conscripted to fight.
We feel beyond helpless and can't just continue with our normal lives whilst our friends and the country go through unimaginable hell. We would be so so grateful for any donations to help us buy as many essentials as we possibly can for the children, women, and families arriving into Poland. Thanks so much in advance for any support ❤
