Helping Rhea and her family

Dear friends,

My name is Joulle Alfaro, and I am reaching out to you on behalf of my dear friend, Rhea Marie Flores. Rhea and I have been friends since our time in nursing school, and I can confidently say that she is one of the most compassionate and selfless individuals I have ever known.

Recently, Rhea's father, has been facing some serious health challenges. In March 2023, he was diagnosed with an enlarged prostate and underwent a biopsy, which revealed a high-grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia. In addition to this, her father is also diabetic and had to undergo the amputation of his toe. During his hospitalization, he experienced hematochezia, or the passing of fresh blood in his stool, and subsequent tests revealed a vesicorectal fistula and vesical mass adenocarcinoma. To make matters worse, an MRI of his spine showed spinal metastasis, indicating that the cancer has spread to his spine. This has resulted in paralysis and excruciating pain, making it difficult for him to move and causing the development of a pressure injury.

The financial burden on Rhea's family has been overwhelming. They have already depleted their funds, and they are now facing the heartbreaking decision of transitioning their father to palliative or comfort care measures, as he has been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer Stage 4. Despite the immense challenges they are facing, Rhea has remained incredibly strong and resilient. She has not shared her family's struggles with her friends, but I believe it is our duty to support her during this difficult time.

That is why I am reaching out to you today. We are knocking on your door, humbly asking for your help in supporting Rhea and her family. The medical expenses they are facing are substantial, including the cost of daily antibiotics, dressings, medications, doctors' fees, and hospital expenses. The antibiotic alone amounts to 13,000 pesos per day, and an additional antibiotic costs 15,000 pesos per day. These costs are simply beyond the means of Rhea's family at this point.

Your generous contribution would not only provide much-needed financial relief but also offer a glimmer of hope to Rhea and her family during this challenging time. Together, we can make a difference and alleviate some of the burdens they are carrying.
