Covid took Sarah from her beloved children.
By 32, Sarah overcame substance abuse, domestic violence and single motherhood to graduate with a Master's from UC Berkeley--with both children beside her on the stage-- earning her dream job helping others through tough times.
Studying was never easy, but loving was, fighting for justice was, giggling was. Community was both a joy and a necessity for Sarah.
If you knew Sarah, honor your memories by procrastinating, staying up too late, fighting for justice, listening to music loudly, planting sunflowers, wearing your damned mask,
& being there for Jonah, Madi, and fiancée Cal
. . because yes, Sarah and Cal were to be married June 20th.
The long story:
On May 16th, Sarah Roncskevitz , a medical social worker in the San Francisco Bay Area with a tenacious heart and wicked sense of humor, tested negative for Covid-19. She had chills, fever, cough, exposure to confirmed cases at her essential job, every classic symptom, but tested negative.
Late in the evening on May 26th, Sarah kissed Cal goodnight before showering then collapsed on the floor and went into cardiac arrest. Cal found her and performed CPR which sustained Sarah long enough for the ambulance to get to the emergency room where Sarah suffered a second cardiac arrest and tested positive for Covid-19. Sarah never regained consciousness. Saturday, May 30th at 5 pm Sarah's parents made the difficult decision to remove life support. Her father and sister were able to be at her side.
Cal is one of the many folks in the Bay Area unemployed by the pandemic. As a Stagehand for opera and ballet, he is currently unable to work. We are hoping to cover final expenses as well as on-going expenses for her two young children.
We know times are tough. Believe us, every dollar helps, no donation is too little (or too much!) Please message Cal if you would like to offer non monetary donations.
Rest in Power Sarah Trouble,
Mama, friend, love, protector of those in need,
Monster Extraordinaire.
