Helping Shelley Duvall

“I used to think the worst thing in life was to end up all alone.
It’s not.
The worst thing in life is to end up with people that make you feel alone.”
─ Robin Williams
Shelley Duvall.
Shelley Duvall is more than an illness.
Shelley Duvall has an individual story to tell.
She has a name, a history, a personality.
Here is her battle.
From an early age, Shelley Alexis Duvall’s mother, Bobbie, knew she was destined to be in the spotlight.
This American treasure and pride of Houston, Texas, is best known for starring in movies such as Three Women, Popeye, a little film entitled The Shining, and for creating her groundbreaking cable series Shelley Duvall’s Faerie Tale Theatre.
While in California over the years Shelley became very afraid of doctors and medical assistance. Coupled with the 90’s earthquakes she decided to move back to her home state of Texas. Unfortunately, her fears have persisted.
Sadly, her career has been halted due to ongoing mental illness, for which a social stigma still persists.
Shelley’s contribution to society is not limited to only the silver screen. Shelley created an organization that helps bring awareness to the current state of the World’s environmental and ecological crisis.
Despite years of silently struggling with mental illness, Shelley has remained dedicated to her family, friends, and fans.
Recently, the public has been given a glimpse into Shelley’s once private struggle with mental illness, as she declared on television,
“All I know is that I need help!”
We can only assume that Dr. Phil and his producers had the best intentions for Shelley and hope that his follow-up promise to assist her with real professional medical help is genuine.
Perhaps, this unplanned public appearance showcased Shelley’s sense of urgency in seeking help and served as a moment of clarity for her, manifesting as a single ray of sunshine through persistent clouds of disorganized thought, uncontrollable behavior, paranoia, delusional thinking, and considerable sadness.
The hardest part is asking for help, and Shelly has done just that. Now it is our turn to help her.
Shelley’s family is now asking for your support, as friends and fans. Donations are certainly needed to help Shelley get the treatment she so desperately requires and is reaching out for. Mental illness is debilitating and the associated expenses can be burdensome.
We all want to see Shelley recover and resume her life’s work.
Kindly donate today and bring awareness to mental illness. No donation is too small.
