Helping single mommy Nia with rent for her family

 *UPDATE*: unfortunately the battle with the current apartment is ending and she has to leave. It’s absolutely not the outcome that we were hoping for and my heart is broken for what’s ahead. All of this comes with the GOOD news that she did find a job that she starts on Monday, but unfortunately it’ll take some time to accumulate her first pay and all. She is desperate to find a new home and try to secure it before she’s gotta be out. The scariest part of it is not knowing if it can be done before they are evicted. She needs help with application fees and just getting into the new place now. I’m heartbroken to imagine the situation she is in and pray she’s able to get on her feet very soon.

Hi there, my name is Alex and I’ve created this account on behalf of this beautiful single mother and her two precious babies.

Nia is the single mother to one year old daughter named Azalèa and to her newborn baby son Ayden. Ayden was born 2 weeks premature and recently graduated from his NICU stay after finding he had mitral valve abnormalities as well as breathing issues. She was sent home with little more than the advice to just keep an eye on him and bring him back in if he’s showing significant breathing problems… And of course, she has to contend with the fact that she has another young toddler that is reliant on her and she has absolutely no support system. This mom is facing housing and financial insecurities on top of it all- she is unable to go back to work now that she has her baby who is 100% reliant on her vigilant care.

Nia is an absolute warrior and when I say that she is a great mom, she truly is the best. This woman would sacrifice herself for these children in a heartbeat and her precious babies are the most sweet and adjusted little ones you’ve ever come to find, based on how the babies interact with you, you truly would never even know that she was carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders. Unfortunately she is no stranger to intense trauma and abuse from others who have tried to take advantage of her situation or who have been cruel and uncaring. Within the last six years she has lost her beloved mother and several other family members, leaving her out on her own without even the basic benefits of having family to love and care for her in her time of postpartum vulnerability. She has PTSD and such a huge burden of the trauma of the past but she takes it all on and continues fighting every day for her precious babies.

Society as a whole unfortunately tends to offer no helping hand or even any love extended towards the women or families in her position. They are often cast out and forgotten about. People move on with their own lives and they don’t often care to put themselves in the shoes of those who are less fortunate. I am praying that this is an opportunity to change all of that for her. I would love for this to be an extension of love and a reminder to her that YES, you do have a place within our community, and you and your little ones absolutely have a seat at the table.
