Helping Sofia Heal

Sofia (name changed for privacy reasons) is a sweet, smart, chatty, happy and beautiful 9 year old little girl. She thrives in school, is adored by her family, her teachers, and her friends. I've known and been close to her family for over 6 years.
16 days ago, Sofia stopped eating and drinking. She fell into a state of anxiety and panic. Her life threatening fear appears to stem from hearing about deportations and family separations in the news.
Sofia has been hospitalized for 11 days with little change in her anxiety or eating. She now has a feed tube to keep her body functioning. It has been traumatic for Sofia and devastating to witness.
Her mother is by her side 24 hours a day, sleeping on a chair, in case Sofia has another panic attack. She has not returned home to care for Sofia's brother and older sister, and is unable to work (cleaning homes, for which she only gets paid if she shows up). Her father is doing his best to keep up with the family's needs, but cannot let his work falter, because they live week-to-week to make ends meet. Without mom working, they cannot meet their financial responsibilities this month.
Doctors say it could be weeks or even months before Sofia is released from the hospital. We don't know what bills they will receive from this either...
I LOVE this family and want to do all I can in my power to help them. They are a great example of hard working people, who have sacrificed so much and done everything in their power to give their children a healthy and prosperous future. They show up every single day of their lives with love and dedication to their family and their work.
As a community, we can give this family a little peace of mind financially for the next few months. Also some extra pocket money so that the mom can take care of herself at the hospital (she's not fed for free and is not allowed to bring in food from outside).
Thank you for your help. Every little bit counts!
PS: I am a close and trusted friend of the family. I will personally withdraw the funds and will deliver the entire amount raised to the family directly.
