Helping Terminaly Ill Families For Christmas
Donation protected
After the huge success of our last fundraiser, we have decided to do it again to help some terminally ill families at Christmas time. We are working closely with willowburn hospice who have put us in touch with a couple of very deserving families. I will be Boxing again on the 14th of October at Rainton meadows with Premier White Collar Boxing; I’m training hard and aiming for another win.
Our last fundraiser raised £5230, with that money we sent a terminally ill family of 9 on holiday and helped 10 individual, bereaved children who lost a parent to cancer. We only manged to do this due to your generosity and we are asking for your help again.
We are aiming to provide several terminally ill families with a magical Christmas to provide as many beautiful memories as we can. We are also planning to send a family who tragically, have two terminally ill members on a lovely holiday to provide them with a well-deserved break and some much-needed family time.
This is my story.
The 5th 0f August 2000 will forever be the worst day of my life. This is the day I was told that my beautiful Mam had passed away and my life changed forever.
My Mam fought a courageous battle with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a type of cancer which attacks the body’s lymph nodes.
I was only 10 years old when she lost her battle with this terrible disease. I have struggled with the loss of my mam ever since. The grief I have suffered has at times been unbearable and has caused me to suffer with my mental health.
I carry a lot of sad memories of this time, but I always try to focus on the happy memories I have. Some of my best memories are of the family holidays we enjoyed and the time that we got to spend together. These are the memories I will cherish forever.
Because of my personal experiences I would like to raise some money to give a family in a similar situation a holiday and a chance to make some beautiful memories. I would also like to help a local group of children who get together regularly with a bereavement councillor through willow burn hospice.
To raise money for these very deserving causes I have signed up to Premier White-Collar Boxing. I am currently in training for my boxing match. The training is intense but I’m enjoying the focus and I’m feeling confident and hope to win my fight, but for me, what matters the most is raising as much money as I can for these worthy causes that are very close to my heart.
