Her Battle is ours, Fight with Terry Myers

Our Mother, Terry Myers, was diagnosed with stage 3 small cell lung cancer on May 8th, 2020.  This week her radiation doctor told mom’s chances of beating this cancer is 1%.  Their goal now is to try to slow down the cancer from moving to other areas as this type of cancer tends to spread.

Terry is currently receiving radiation daily, scheduled through the end of July.   Chemo treatments will continue 3 days a week, every three weeks for as long as her body can handle the treatments.   These are very intense treatments that will take a toll on her. The doctors have already mentioned pulling back the level of chemo if her levels continue to drop.  

Mom would never ask for help from anyone herself.  She is always the one to be there for everyone else - help anyone she can, when she can. She has always been there to help me raise my two sons and I couldn't have done it without her. 

Because she won’t ask for herself, we are asking for her by starting this GoFundMe. Going through this battle she will need help with self-care things such as medications, creams, wigs, hats, scarfs and new clothes as her weight is rapidly changing.  Terry is on a fixed income that barely covers her “normal,” monthly living expenses.  Anything “extra” would help so much.

Mom has also said she would like to go on a vacation with her family and grandkids - that's something she has never gotten to do.  She also told her sister Christy she said she would like to go visit her brother Sam in Missouri. She wants to get out and do as much as she can while she is able.

We want our mom to be able to do and experience as many things as she can, without financial concerns adding to her stress. 

Terry is staying in good spirits and has overcame so much in her life.  She has already beat cancer once!  We are all keeping hope and not giving up. She has always been there for our family, her kids and grandkids who she absolutely adores, and they adore her. Even if we can give a little back to our mom it would mean a lot to us.
