Helping Texas Animal Flood Victims

The rural and farming community about two hours north of Houston (Kirbyville, Jasper, etc.) has recently experienced catastrophic flooding.

Unfortunately—perhaps because the flooding hasn't impacted a large city--the national news media has not brought this disaster to the public’s attention.

Over the past few weeks, thousands of people in the area have lost their homes, their cars, and all their earthly possession. The Red Cross, the Salvation Army, and a few other agencies are just beginning to help the people who have lost everything. But, as of now there doesn’t seem to be any assistance available for the animals impacted by this flooding.

Sadly, our rescue friends in this area have told us that there are dead animals floating down the street.

Many stray and displaced animals are roaming the flooded neighborhoods, looking for food.

But so far ASPCA and HSUS have not stepped up to help….

While not located in Texas, our rescue organization (One Starfish Rehoming Connections

EIN#2628238-43) is dedicated to helping animals in need, regardless of where they are.

So we decided to take it upon ourselves to do what needs to be done.

One of our rescue volunteers in Kirbyville has agreed to act as the animal/pet contact person for this area.

She will be canvassing the neighborhoods in search of animals in need, while we—in turn—collect donations that will enable her to purchase and distribute pet food and other animal supplies that are so desperately needed.

These are difficult times for all of us, but….please dig deep into your pocket so that we can help the animals who have been impacted by this terrible flooding.

They are innocent victims who are confused, frightened, lost, and starving…..
