Helping the Hands that Help Us

What is Operation Sailors Code?
Sailors around the world adhere to a common code: we always respond to a distress call to aid others on the water, knowing that life on the untamed ocean is often unpredictable and dangerous.
All across America, our health care workers are fighting with everything they have got to keep us alive, all due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. Like many people, we find this new reality to be heartbreaking and feel helpless in the face of so much tragedy. What if there was a way to help them AND create hope and change in process? Would you do it?
Operation Sailors Code is our small initiative to take care of the hard-working hands of health care workers, who have sacrificed everything to help patients in need during this pandemic. With continuous washing of their hands to keep the virus at bay, we can only imagine the condition of their hands, and hence, the need of self-care. This is a program to send hand care packages to local hospitals in the Tri-State area. All the contributions you make here will allow us to send a pack of our Boatswain Hand Cream to participating hospitals like Lincoln Memorial Hospital (Bronx, NY), Capital Health Hospital (Trenton, NJ) and Stamford Hospital (CT).

How your donation will be used?
Each care package will include a pack of either small tins (0.375oz) or large tins (1.5oz) of our all organic Boatswain Hand Cream. The cream helps protects skin in any conditions, keeping hard-working hands smooth, soft, and supple all day long. One of our nurses wrote us to say, "My poor hands needed this TLC so badly! It's like carrying a bit of sunshine and love in my pocket all day."

About Em & El Organics
Proudly grown in New York City, Em & El Organics is a woman-owned, organic skin care company, dedicated to handcrafting products that heal and protect your skin, no matter where your adventures take you. Born of humble beginnings nearly 20 years ago, our founder Emily Trower-Young began creating her own skin care products after attempts to cure her severe acne failed. As a wooden boatbuilder and sailor, she also needed products that held up to severe environmental conditions. At Em & El, we love to say that our products are tough enough for sailors, and made for the everyday.
Kathy, our BMIC (Badass Mom in Charge), has over 40 years of international nursing experience, including as an ER nurse at one of NYC's busiest ER's in the 80s and 90s. She has been instrumental in helping us launch Operation Sailors Code as our Hospital Medical Liaison, using her experience to ensure that our hand creams reach the right hands.
Steady at the helm!
