Helping the Hartmans
They say some people make the world special just by being in it and I think everyone who has ever met Chelsea would agree - she’s one of those people. Her laugh lights a room, her sense of humor is unbeatable and her dedication to those important to her is unshakeable. Now, she and her family need our help.
Chelsea, who has been working as a physical therapist throughout the pandemic, was diagnosed with COVID while 30 weeks pregnant. Shortly after her diagnosis, her ability to breathe became very labored and she was diagnosed with COVID Pneumonia in the ER. Once admitted to the ICU, her difficulty to breathe quickly intensified. On August 5th, Chelsea and her husband Rob were advised it would be best for both her and the baby, if the baby was born early. In order to do so, Chelsea - who was alone in the ICU due to COVID restrictions - would be intubated for 12-28 days, during which the baby would be born via C section. She bravely agreed and was placed on a ventilator. Baby Hartman was delivered via C section two days later on August 7th, 2 months early.
As we all know - insurance, maternity leave, etc. can be tricky waters to navigate, particularly alongside a traumatic situation. We are so thankful for a safe delivery, but while Chelsea remains intubated, her maternity leave has already begun.
We are eager to provide Chelsea, Rob and Baby Hartman with the extra support needed for them to focus on full recoveries. Rob, owner of Hartman Wood Co in Orlando FL, is a small business owner and one man show. He has not been able to be there in person due to COVID restrictions and is supporting his girls in every way he can.
Baby Hartman will be in the NICU while she recovers for a minimum of 6 weeks and Chelsea will continue to be intubated for a minimum of 2 weeks, possibly longer, before she is able to meet her baby and start her own road to recovery.
We ask for any help you can give, to provide support to this wonderful family in their time of need. No amount is too small.
