Helping the Hetricks

Our dear friend, teacher, and mentor, Eric Hetrick, is currently being treated for a rare infection known as Methicillin-Sensitive Staphylococcus Aureus (MSSA). Eric entered the ICU on May 25th and continues to be monitored there. He recently underwent open heart surgery to repair a valve in his heart and address the abscessess on his aorta. His medical team is monitoring abscesses on his brain to determine if brain surgery is needed. Eric continues to battle numerous other complications from the infection.

Eric grew-up in our community and has dedicated his life to our kids. He has just celebrated his 20th year as a first grade teacher at Upper Providence Elementary School where he is adored by his students and staff members alike.

Eric and Shannon have been married for 13 years and have two boys, Tyler and Logan. Shannon is also a teacher having just celebrated her 26th year of teaching, currently in third grade at Oaks Elementary School.

Eric and Shannon need our help. Eric has a very long road ahead of him recovering from such a vicious infection. Once he is finally released from the hospital, he will be faced with months of medical treatments at home and as an out-patient, in addition to untold hours of rehabilitation.
