Helping the Homeless of Pittsburgh
Donation protected
For those of you that know me, I have been sleeping in an abandoned building in Pittsburgh every February, to raise awareness and generate donations to help those living in Pittsburgh without a home. Each year I provide all donations I receive to the Living Ministry in Pittsburgh.
Just this past January, I was elected to serve on the Board of Directors at the ministry and I feel very honored to be a part of and help contribute to such an amazing organization. Unfortunately, this year the abandoned building I have previously used for my sleep out is no longer available, so I thought I would try something a little different this year.
On 3/31, Easter Weekend, I will be checking myself into a cold-weather overflow homeless shelter on the North Side of Pittsburgh and sleeping amongst other homeless people in our community to experience exactly what the homeless go through on bitter cold nights in Pittsburgh. On Easter morning I will then drive the homeless people I stayed with overnight, to a different location for a warm meal.
Your generosity can help those without a home in Pittsburgh, by showing them that they are still cared for and are not forgotten. While there are various ministries throughout Pittsburgh that provide to their essential needs, like food and clothing, our ministry focuses on filling a need often overlooked by other organizations. Most people don't become homeless simply because they don't have a home or because they choose to be, they are homeless because of some deeper underlying issue. At the Living Ministry, we focus on building relationships and friendships over time, sometimes years, with these men and women, so that we can learn what can be done to help them out of their unfortunate situation.
So I ask you this Easter, help me with this cause by donating to the Living Ministry, so we can do the work that needs done in Pittsburgh and help those that truly need it. Any amount you give will be put towards an incredible cause and being on the Board of Directors helps me ensure that your generosity is being stewarded to the homeless in our community well and responsibly. Last year we raised just over $1500 and I'd love to be able to shatter that record. If you are unable to help financially, but wish to help in other ways, the link below shows you items that are currently needed.
