Helping the O'Malley Family from Tragic Accident

Patrick O'Malley is a loving husband, father of 2, and grandfather of 2 and long-time employee at the Lincoln Park Zoo. On Thursday morning , April 28th, 2022, Pat was on his way to work at the Lincoln Park Zoo. A person was driving on the wrong side of the road on the Indiana Toll Road in Hammond and hit Pat in a head-on collision. His injuries were so severe that he was flown by helicopter to the University of Chicago Medical Center.

 

According to the Indiana State Police, the other driver that was going the wrong way on the Toll Road that hit Pat was said to have been intoxicated with alcohol or drugs. The driver of the vehicle passed away at the scene. This is a tragic accident that Pat has endured.

 

He has a broken jaw, femur, humerus, ribs, arm, legs, and foot along with numerous body fractures. He has had two surgeries in attempt to save his life. Most recently, due to the impact of the collision, he endured substantial abdomen problems. The last surgery was successful in the procedure for a colostomy bag. Since his accident, Pat has been on a ventilator. His brain activity has been reported as good. He currently has a blood clot in one of his arms and the treatment team is doing their best to help him.

 

Pat’s family has remained at his bedside since the accident. Pat cannot currently communicate for himself due to being on a ventilator. Pat and his family need prayers and support during this difficult time. If you would like to help support Pat with his current and future medical needs it would be greatly appreciated. Pat has a long road ahead of him.

 

The family will need to figure out how to pay for the medical bills that are not covered outside of Pat’s personal insurance policy. The family will need to make the home handicap accessible and ensure that they can provide 1:1 care to him along with ongoing medical treatment. Due to the severity of his injury, Pat’s family will be left to figure out how to provide for his future care and life saving medical costs.

 

Any donations would be greatly appreciated. All of the proceeds of this fundraiser will be given to Mr. Pat O’Malley and his wife.
