Helping the Powers Family Heal

As many of you have heard from Jeff's heartfelt tribute to his story on Facebook, the Powers family suffered an unimaginable loss on November 20, 2021. At just 24 weeks pregnant and having tried everything to stop it from happening, Kellie went into labor and delivered her beautiful baby boy, Luke Jeffrey Powers. Though Luke was a fighter, he just wasn't quite ready for the world.

It is hard to imagine the pain that Jeff, Kellie, and their family is going through at this time. They are both wonderful people who are dedicated to their family, the teams that they coach, and students they teach. Kellie has spent her lifetime serving and helping others, most recently advocating and lobbying for change to finally allow teachers to receive paid leave under the Federal Medical Leave Act.

The cruel irony of this is not lost on those around the Powers family. Many of you have reached out to ask how to best support Kellie, Jeff and her twin daughters during this difficult time. Though nothing we can do can take the pain away, we can raise money to grant them what they truly need - TIME.

No amount is too small - all funds raised will go directly to Kellie and Jeff. Let's hope we can give them the time needed to begin the (physical and emotional) healing process.
