Helping the Saharawi people in Refugee Camps in Algeria
Donation protected
Hello everyone and welcome to this fundraising page for which the objective is to raise funds to support the Saharawi people, in refugee camps in Tindouf, Algeria.
My name is Lola. Me and my good friend Stefan share a passion for running and, this year, we decided to take it to another level of adventure and meaningfulness.
We registered together for a run unlike any other we have done before: the Sahara Marathon! This race is organised yearly and it has two main goals:
- To demonstrate solidarity with the Saharawi people, who have been displaced and forced to live in refugee camps of Tindouf (Algeria),
- To raise awareness and educate the world about a 42-year-long conflict and prevent that the situation of the Saharawi people is forgotten.
We encourage you to read more about the event in The Sahara Marathon webpage and, if nothing else, please share your knowledge about this situation with your friends, family and co-workers so that this information reaches more and more people. That, in itself, is already a valuable contribution.
However, we felt inspired to do more! In an attempt to make this adventure as helpful as possible to the Saharawi people, we decided to start this campaign, in order to raise funds for the refugees and for the projects they need support for.
There are currently two projects ongoing:
- Association of people with special needs: The objective is to build a small place for personal hygiene.
- Humanitarian support for families affected by floods in the Dakhla Camp and families of war orphans.
If you are willing to contribute, we invite you to read more about these humanitarian projects.
If you have read this far into this post: Thank you! We are grateful for your contribution, however small you feel it might be.
