Helping Theo Through His Medical Journey

Donation protected

On December 31, 2020, after experiencing left sided pain and shortness of breath, my dad, Theo, went in to see his PCP and was informed that he had fluid in his lungs. At that time,  he was sent to the Emergency Department and after 26 days and 7 extensive surgeries, he was discharged from Main Campus. During his time at home, he continued his treatment with a drain that was placed on his left side to drain excessive fluid and air, requiring 3-4 changes daily. Due to his insurance coverage, Home Health is not provided and  is being done by him and my mom.

March 4, 2021, my dad underwent a major Thoracotomy, for a continued air leak that is present in his lung. With the ability to take muscle from his back (lattissimus dorsi) the doctors were hopeful in filling the void and patching the hole on his lung to help too in preventing any infection in the chest. The goal is to ultimately inflate the lung. We are hoping to see a positive outcome within the next week or two. He will remain inpatient for up to two weeks, if all goes as planned and start his recovery process. Doctors spent six hours in surgery with him and are optimistic but also have voiced some concerns.

Unfortunately, he will continue to be out of work for awhile.

Although, my dad does have medical
insurance to help cover some of his
medical needs, it still leaves him responsible for a significant amount. While he is not working, and my mom is helping, I am hoping that this will help to offset some of the worries and burden of not being able to work right now. At this time, any help and prayers are greatly appreciated!
