Helping Larry’s family with medical and funeral

Donation protected

As many of you know my father Larry Stamper has been fighting a very hard battle for a very long time. A few years ago Dad was able to overcome bladder cancer and we thought the battle was finally over, five years later we felt like we got the worst news ever as dad got sick with A blood disorder. We knew it was going to be very hard, but as you guys know he does not give up easy or fast he’s a fighter till the end. At that point we took it head on and did anything and everything we could. He was doing somewhat OK until the beginning of this year things got a little rougher and Dad ended up with a bad infection, he went to the hospital on January 26 of 2021. Was in the hospital for multiple months in the ICU. He had multiple surgeries to get the infections out of his blood, back, his Lungs and everywhere else it was, We knew we had a very hard battle ahead of him and at this point his blood disorder had now turned into Leukemia. Dad continued ongoing treatment in the hospital for multiple months while on chemo and many forms of anabiotic‘s.. after 25 straight hard days of chemotherapy They decided to do a bone marrow biopsy to find out how the leukemia was looking. At That point they decided that they were going to try another 15 days of chemo and continue antibiotics. Finally day 35 came and looked good so he able to get out of the hospital and continue antibiotics at home as well as have a small break from chemotherapy. We thought we were in a good place. After a few more weeks at home dad was very weak, but determined to get over the hump. A few days later they decided they were going to stop the anabiotic‘s.. we were afraid but confident at the same time that maybe we were doing good enough things were coming to the next step of helping him recover. Exactly one week later on a Saturday after they had stopped his anabiotic’s he got a fever The fever wasn’t very high and we were able to control it with Tylenol his doctor said to continue to watch it and he did well for the rest of that day and unfortunately again the next night( Sunday) he had a small fever again. Come Monday morning Mom Went to wake Dad and get him ready to go to an appointment for his blood infusion they had scheduled. Mom could not arouse him enough to wake. He was breathing ,had a pulse and heartbeat but was not coherent enough . Mom put him on oxygen right and called me as I rushed over to help and see if i could wake him more. He woke a little and knew that it was me ,but had had no idea what was going on, we decided to call an ambulance and get him back to the hospital. ASAP. His oncologist that he was seeing at the time was at Del Webb so we got him taken there. At that point the doctors did testing to find out if he had an infection again and if so where it was. Unfortunately It was in the same spots as well as other areas then they decided to transfer him back out to Banner Desert Hospital in Mesa so he could be with the doctors who performed his first surgeries.. When he got there they ran some tests and found out that He also was not able to move his right arm and leg. They thought he may have had a small stroke to cause these issues, but the next day he was able to move his arm so they did more testing to find out what was up, at this point we found the infection was now in his brain. By now his body was so weak and exhausted that he was no longer a candidate for surgery. They continued anabiotic’s for another week, but unfortunately there was no changes.. We were devastated and had no clue what was going to happen, then we were informed that we honestly needed to make a plan. He knew no surgeries or drs or antibiotics where going to help. At this point it was all over his body and getting worse. Dad said I just want to be with my family and friends.. this whole year in the hospital has really be awful for him and waiting for a miracle just continued to go farther and farther away. At this point dad decided he was ready to go home and spend his days happy.. He came home Wed June 23rd with in home hospice care.. he was so happy to be home and see all of his loved ones and be able to hear and see all the regular Stamper/Sparks shenanigans going on like normal, as we made it through Friday and most of Saturday, we all said goodnight and goodbye @10:15pm sat. And of course as the house was quiet and everyone was home safe he decided to take his last breath @10:50pm. We all know he is stubborn and he made sure that we were home safe and OK.

He is now at peace and no longer in any pain, as you see in his picture he is saying that way heaven!!! We are so very beside ourselves as he was the most amazing man to so many. Thank you to everyone who has reached out, has came by, has helped in every way you can even a small text message or call has been amazing I know it has been hard for us to get back to everyone as there’s so much going on, but please know you all noticed.

Thank you to the meal train they have going around that has made things very easy not to worry about dinners we so appreciate Our loving friend Theresa for setting that up as well as everyone that has signed up or already brought stuff over we are so grateful.

As Many people have asked me how to donate and get some stuff to my mom and the family to help us navigate our way through this terrible time I have finally taken the time to sit down and try to get this set up so that we can all find a way to help my mom get through this with all of his medical expenses and all of his funeral services as well as any other expenses she may have a hard time covering for the time being.

We also will be making arrangements for his celebration of life and we are thinking more towards end of July. As he has so many friends and family would like to join. Were trying to make it manageable for everyone to have the opportunity to come.

Thank you again to everyone for everything we cannot say it enough!!! “I love you my daddy, my hero, my world.. you’ll be truly missed, but we promise we will go on with your love and wisdom as you would expect nothing less!!!

Thank you again EVERYONE

with all our love,

The Stamper/Sparks Family
