Engage, Educate and Empower our community girls

Hi, my name is Chantia Thompson I am the Executive Director of S.H.E a nonprofit located in Michigan. Our organization is fundraising to help the disadvantaged youth in communities around Detroit (and surrounding communities) who attend our programs. Our program provides services that help families, women & teens overcome mental, emotional and behavioral challenges as well as literacy which is a huge pandemic in itself in our community. We engage, being awareness, educate and elevate the community we serve with resources, tools, workshops, love and support in a diverse, nurturing and safe environment. Our services included but are not limited to: Arts & Confidence workshops, healing circles, yoga, peer support, tutoring, transportation to and from sessions, journaling, book clubs and more. We support the wellbeing of the children who are the future.
We are fundraising to be able to supply essentially needed period supplies for women and girls. We want to continue our efforts all year round. To ensure no one goes without supplies. And with your help, we will be able to do so for many girls and women in the community. From a lived experience I have gone without supplies and that was not a fun experience. It was embarrassing, traumatizing, and I got bullied. I remember using so much tissue at school that I got in trouble for trying to take whole rolls in my bag. When I got caught I had to explain to my school counselor that I did not have any supplies at home. She gave me supplies and told me each month if I needed more just come to her. That made me feel good that someone cared. I did not have to face embarrassment again with stained jeans or discomfort from using rags and a lot of bundled-up tissue. I would never want my daughter, neighbor, or any young lady to experience these things when there is something we can do. Will you help us fight period poverty? We hope so!
One in four girls is going without needed period supplies. Please support our efforts by contributing to our fundraiser or shopping on our Amazon wish list, making a donation or becoming a sponsor today!
Donations of hygiene and menstrual supplies will be disbursed monthly for pick up at our after-school programs. We hold workshops where we educate women and girls on personal hygiene, womb care, mental health, yoga to help menstrual pains and more.
Thank you.
