Help Ivy Rose Beat Cancer

Dear community,
For those of you meeting Ivy and Meghan for the first time, they are our dear friends here in Toronto. Ivy is a creative, engaging and fierce 12 year old who has been battling Ewing’s sarcoma since she was 4. She defeated the odds with her original diagnosis, then again with her recurrence at age 9, and then again last year as it seemed new treatments were working. But now the cancer is back with a vengeance. She has been in and out of the hospital for the past few weeks, struggling with pain and breathing, back on chemo. Meghan remains at her side as she has over the years. As a single mother with a career doing costumes for film, Meghan has been unable to work whenever Ivy has been ill. She has maxed out all union and government channels and needs help to continue to keep Ivy’s wellbeing at the centre of her life. The funds will go directly to her to help with all life necessities. In the past year, Ivy has been able to have some magical experiences like travelling to Hawaii, having a big 12th birthday bash prior to COVID, and spending the summer back home with friends and family in her beloved Nova Scotia. Please send them your love, positive energy and support to help reduce the financial worry while they struggle with so much else, and to allow them to have as many more moments of magic as are possible.
Ivy's story:
At 4 year's old, Ivy was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma in the fibula bone of her right leg. It is a rare cancer that is even rarer in younger children. After 9 months of chemotherapy and surgeries, Ivy was clear of cancer and was leading an active and wonderful life. In 2017 a large tumor was seen in her right lung during a routine scan and Ivy went through more rounds of chemo and surgeries.
Ivy has been battling cancer for most of her life now. She has gone through rounds and rounds of chemo and radiation which have had a lasting effect on her body. She has gone through too many surgeries, removing parts of her leg. She has had to struggle with keeping up with school and friends and yet, despite all this Ivy is absolutely magic in every way. A smart, astute, empathetic, loving, funny, sweet child who is wise beyond her years. A child raised by a single mother who has done the best job with her despite all the obstacles they have faced. Ivy loves to draw and craft. She has an amazing fashion sense just like her mom. :) Her favourite show is Schitt's Creek and she loves reciting scenes with her mom. She loves her wonderful school and hanging out with her friends. Her favourite food is sushi and her favourite animals are her dog Holly and her cat Lili-u. She misses her dear friends and family in Nova Scotia very much and her beloved farm where she grew up.
With love,
Brigit and Mira
