Help Keep Junky Comics Open

Junky Comics is a comics book store/gallery that specialises in local and indie comics, zines and apparel and is owned and run by myself, Vlada Edirippulige.



We are almost at the 2 year mark of Junky being open and it has just been an incredible (almost) 2 years. 
In this time we have housed some incredible exhibitions by extremely talented local artists, our local zine has doubled in size with contributions and our feminist and LGBTQI section is bursting at the seams (which makes me very happy.)

We have had the honour of putting on gigs in store, had some of our favourite artists travel from interstate to do signings and launches and have been able to give artists the opportunity to put on their first ever shows and launch their first ever books and zines!
Our goal was always to make Junky a safe inclusive space where everyone can express themselves freely without judgement and fear. 

It has honestly been such a thrill to be able to witness all of this. My heart hurts from all of the amazing things that people have achieved in this small lil shop of mine. I feel extremely proud to be living in Brisbane and I believe so much in this city. I feel stoked that in whatever small way, I’ve been able to help artists get their work onto the shelves and into people’s homes and hearts!





However, as much as it sucks, I realized early this year that things were a little dire financially and was hit with the realization that this very well could be the year that I might have to shut Junky’s doors.
