Kim is a vivacious, amazing woman, who plays many roles in the lives of others. She is a mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, niece, friend... and her life changed dramatically at the start of 2015 with a colon cancer diagnosis.
As the year has gone on, Kim has had chemotherapy and radiation treatment, followed by surgery to remove her tumour. Recent pathology revealed that the treatments before surgery had zero effect on the cancer. Kim now faces a much more aggressive treatment, whereby the chemo is being direct-injected to her heart via a PICC line.
Recent complications with the first post-op chemo treatment have changed the game, and Kim now requires additional medications (heparin, neupogen) in order to continue receiving chemotherapy - medications that are very, very costly.
Due to her condition, Kim has been away from work since May of this year. Neupogen alone costs $1400 per cycle, and with 7 treatment cycles remaining, battling this beast is proving to be a very difficult task. She deserves the support of others during this difficult time.
