Help Feed Toronto’s Vulnerable during #Covid19

Donation protected

At the beginning of the Covid 19 crisis, Steve Kidron, the owner of Kitchen 24 saw a need..

Businesses were shutting down, community support & organizations were closing and many people had lost employment. In this moment, he knew there was a need. A need to feed Toronto.

You see, Steve knows what it’s like to be hungry. He knows what it feels like to be unsure of where the next meal is coming from.  When Steve first came to Toronto, he lived on the streets, having accessed the occasional garbage can to find a meal and existing with hardly anything in his pocket. In this moment of Covid, he felt compelled to step into action to help. Steve started self-funding the making of many meals daily to ensure that no one gets left behind or suffers from hunger in this time.

To date, we have serviced over 40 community organizations and have provided over 30,000 meals to those in need.

There are many vulnerable residents throughout Toronto and surrounding areas that have lost access to social services and basic necessities due to COVID-19. Kitchen 24 wants to be part of the solution by using our space, volunteers and resources to bring food to those who need it most.

Since quarantine began, we started making 500-700 cooked meals daily and donating them to nursing homes and shelters throughout our community. We have been making meals daily and continue to serve our community. However, we know that 500 is not enough. Our facility has the capacity to create more, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and we plan to keep on going for as long as there are mouths to feed during this pandemic.

We have set a goal of $15, 000 which will allow us to make thousands of meals to feed the GTA.

In order to reach everyone that is currently struggling whether due to COVID-19 or pre-existing circumstances, we need your support.

We are the largest shared kitchen in Ontario and are able to practice social distancing among volunteers while mass producing nutritious meals at cost. We know food banks are closing due to health and safety issues. Our facility can overcome this problem and become the hub for our community to mass produce and distribute meals to everyone in our community.

Kitchen 24 is entirely a labour of love, run solely by volunteers, so there are no labour costs involved.

Your entire donation goes directly towards feeding those who need it.
