Help Leah's Recovery
This GoFundMe is for Leah Paul - a beautiful and talented 13 year old who suffered two hematomas in her head during a surgery that nearly took her life. The surgeon had to perform an emergency craniotomy, where a very large section was cut out of her skull to relieve the pressure - leaving her with nearly 50 staples in her head. Soon after the surgery, Leah also suffered a stroke which has left her right side mostly paralyzed.
Leah was in the intensive care unit for some time before being moved to the traumatic brain injury floor of Primary Children's Hospital. We are so proud of Leah and the progress she's been making! She's re-learning how to do all the basic things we tend to take for granted - walking, talking, swallowing, breathing and moving around. She has been in the hospital since August and is scheduled to come home 3 days before Christmas.
Although everyone (especially Leah!) is excited to have her come home, she has a long road ahead of her. The Paul family could use all the help they can get for Leah's ongoing therapies, remodeling their bathroom to accomodate Leah, ongoing doctor appointments, medications and more.
Erika Paul, Leah's mother who has been right next to Leah's side through this whole process, recently wrote, "We had a meeting with all our primary therapists, case manager, the rehab nurse, and doctors. We discussed what needs to happen both prior to discharge and after discharge. I'm not going to lie, I left that meeting feeling a little overwhelmed. We have a long road ahead of us. I am so grateful for loving family, friends and neighbors who have chosen to travel down this road with us...We truly believe these miracles would not have happened without the faith and prayers of our loving support group. We are so thankful for each one of you."
Leah is such a fighter! It is through the Paul family's amazing faith and Leah's hard work that we're seeing miracles happen. We will continue watching the miracles unfold as Leah continually works on regaining the ability to do the things tweens her age love to do - laughing, talking, walking, playing the piano and living life to the fullest!
Let's support this amazing girl and her wonderful family!
Please help spread the word!
