Help Mex Fight Cancer

Donation protected
We all know cancer sucks.

So, we are asking friends, colleagues, mates and even strangers to help us raise money for our mate Matt, aka ‘Mex’, who is fighting hard against his brain cancer Grade 4 GBM.

Mex is the most positive person I have ever met. Whether it was at school, the rugby field or at work, Mex always had his trademark smile from ear to ear. Even when first diagnosed in March 2014, he saw the silver lining and decided it was a sign to live life to the fullest - sparking a trip through Europe and his blog: http://cancercanwait.com/blog/

Mex can no longer do any more chemo. His cancer no longer responds to the treatment. So, he has started other treatments at private facilities to help provide better outcomes.

Mex runs a blog called 'Cancer can wait'. He describes it as, ‘a place to inspire people to live life, to enjoy the company of others, to take in the little things in life and to do more of what we love. After all, why follow the same patterns day-to-day if it’s not what you enjoy. I have always tried to maintain a very active lifestyle. Going through cancer does not mean I need to stop – I may just need to slow down a little. I’m not going to allow cancer to stop me from enjoying what I do and what I love.’

In his latest post ( http://cancercanwait.com/ blog/  ) Mex opens up about how his cancer is no longer responding to chemotherapy - 'The next step, Avastin. Avastin is an intravenous infusion that aims to disrupt the blood supply to the tumor, stopping or slowing down its growth. It is NOT a chemo. I am not excepting Avastin to stop the cancer, but I am paying the $20,000 in hopefully use my right side of my whole body while I enjoy my life!...........This Avastin could work to buy me more time, or maybe it won’t. I may have 6months left in my life, 18months left, or the hopeful longer time period!'

We want to help Mex and his family through the financial burden. Money is something that should not get in the way of someone trying everything they can to stay alive. This is how we can all help.

We want to raise enough funds to cover the Avastin treatment costs and continue to support Mex through his fight with cancer.

Mex wrote last week - 'The unknown is the worrying factor. But then anybody could have an accident. The difference is a cancer patient is reminding every day, every hour. I accept this, I thinking about it, deal with it, and then enjoy life and appreciate every today I can! Some days are harder than others to deal with, but with the support around me I am able to wake up every day looking forward to the sun and what the day holds. Even if I can’t now use my right side in for body.'

Let’s help our mate Mex with this fight. He is a bloody legend and I know he would do this for any of his mates.

Any donation, no matter how small, can help Mex live a better way of life, regain his right side movement, and show us that trademark smile ear to ear!

Thankyou! WATCH - Help Mex Fight Cancer VIDEO

** This video was created for Mex back in 2014 for his first surgery on his brain cancer. We managed to get all these videos sent within 24hours notice and we put this together to show Mex we were all behind him - no matter where we were in the world at the time. Mex was in Manchester, England, during his first 18 months of treatment before returning to Australia to continue his treatment at home. **
