Help My Brother Kyle

Donation protected

Hi. My brother is Kyle. He is 35 years old and has a degenerative disease. The only thing they have ever diagnosed him with is myopathy, which means weakness of the muscles, since he was born. The disease is progressive and gets worse over time. It acts a lot like Muscular Dystrophy, where he loses the functioning of  muscles. He can no longer walk, talk, or breathe on his own. He has machines that push oxygen into his lungs every day, all day long. He can't bathe himself or put himself to bed. He loses  muscle mass, so as time passes, he lost the ability to do things he used to be able to do for himself, which he gets depressed about.  He nows weigh approximately 80 pounds. He lives with our mother, who is 74 years old. She takes care of him. Her boyfriend has to lift him into bed, as it is too high for him to transfer into from the chair he sits in all day long. I come over to bathe him, change bed sheets and anything else my brother needs help with. Because of his age (not old enough) and insurance policies, he does not qualify at this time for people to come in to the home and help with his care. He is on disability, but it does not cover all of his bills. His lung keeps collapsing, and he has had a chest tube put in 3 times in less than a year. Every time, he stays in the hospital and racks up more bills. Because his throat muscles are weakening, he has to buy special pureed food so that he can eat, which is also expensive. Our mother struggles to  help pay for his pureed food, various pads, and medical bills. Plus our mom has her own medical needs and bills. There is never enough money to go around. I would love to take some pressure off of my mom. There is a bed that will lower almost to the ground, so that my brother could transfer from his chair to the bed by himself, but he is not able to afford it. The shower chair that he has is too high, so someone needs to lift him into it to shower. He can not afford to get another one that will lower so that he can transfer himself into it. My brother is not the type of person to ask other people for charity, money, or pity. But I see my brother at his wits end, struggling, and getting down on himself . If you could help in any way, I would greatly appreciate it, more than words could express. We would all appreciate it. Thank you for your time, kindness and help. God bless.
