Queer Black Student Needs Help with Housing

Hi everyone,
My name is Afua and I’m a junior at the University of Missouri. I am seeking $10,000 for college tuition and housing, and I desperately need to raise these funds by October 27th, or I will be kicked out of school and university housing, with no safe place to go. Below is a detailed list of what the funds will go to.
My parents are both immigrants, and my mom works hard to support her family, but lately, that’s been near impossible. I’ve worked multiple jobs at a time since starting college just to stay afloat. My family is also not aware that I am pansexual as I am only out to my mom and she advised me not to come out, and my family home is not a safe place for me. Mental health-wise I do not receive the proper support and am not understood. My advisor has been emphasizing that the best choice for me is to not live at home.
I live in university housing, but it is only available from August through May. It’s also expensive, and my financial aid doesn’t cover it. I have to pay my remaining tuition and housing balance for this year and last year or I will be kicked out of school and housing. Specifically, I have to pay the school at least $4,000 by October 27th, or I will be evicted immediately. I owe the school in total about $16,000 and need funds for rent and utilities, car payment and gas for work and then some groceries just to help me get back on my feet and I am working hard to meet my goal. $4,000 will go to the school immediately and $6,000 will go to housing costs and needs for approval, rent, utilities, application fee, and to help altogether with bills. . Before the pandemic started, I had savings from working in multiple jobs. But my hours at the local Target aren’t enough due to hour cuts and school and I’ve been living off driving for Doordash and my limited savings since then. I’ve been unable to get a new job, despite applying to almost 100 in the past few months. I have to wait to be able to transfer to Target in my area and even then I’m still in school full-time, and working at Target won’t be enough to pay my tuition balance by October 27th.
I’m determined to stay in school and get my college degree. My dream job is to be a high school teacher. When I was in high school, I had many teachers help me along the way to keep me grounded and sane and helped me decide what my values and my priorities are for the rest of my life. Those teachers changed my life in the best way and taught me how to advocate for myself and those around me. My dream is to be that teacher for someone else, to inspire a class of high school students to really take a look at the world around them and decide how they’re going to make it better. I’m so close to this dream becoming a reality - all I need now is a little help so I can survive until then.

If I could raise these funds, I would be able to breathe a little easier. I wouldn’t have to overwork myself until I can barely stay standing, and then return to do homework until the early morning. If I could raise this money, I could do what my heart wants most: to teach, and make the world a little better, one student at a time. I know there are many people in need out there and I’m uncomfortable as is asking for help, but I know it’s the help I so desperately need.
