Some of you may know me as Iris Imaginoria (my writer's name... that's the name on my books) or Dr. Gray (my teaching name). Stalarie is my 16-year old. We recently experienced an extreme amount of turmoil and loss when our landlord suddenly decided to sell the house we lived in for nine years.
Stalarie was inpatient at Hasbro Children’s Hospital, diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder, which disconnects the mind from the body. He experiences seizures and other serious issues that have been quite difficult for us to wrap our brains around. He was in Hasbro for just over a month.
I was struggling to manage working in a difficult day job as a teacher with fibromyalgia and chronic migraines while trying to find a new place for us to live. I had been so excited to teach at this school, but it did not work out well. It was even more frustrating when my contract was not renewed at the end of the school year.
My husband and I separated due to the stress. I was on my own. I could no longer afford for Stalarie and I to stay in Rhode Island.
My child’s father and his wife generously offered for us to live with them in Georgia. I borrowed money from my family to get some of our belongings moved to Georgia and others into storage in Rhode Island while Stalarie was still in the hospital, but I still need about $3000 to get the rest of our belongings moved to Georgia so we can make a complete transition to safety here, ideally within the next month (by early August). I currently have no income and the storage fees in Rhode Island are $300 a month.

I have a plane ticket to return to RI to get my car at the end of this month (July 20th), though the car is currently packed so full that I don't know I will even be able to drive it down.
I just want to bring our stuff home so we can begin re-building our lives. I believe there is enough space in the garage here that we would not even have to pay for storage. If only I could get it here.

(This is Hedwig, one of our two cats who flew with us on our flight from RI to GA).
Help us rise from the ashes like the phoenixes we are. We just need a safe place to land.
