Hi my name is Matt Rodriguez, Chelsea Bets Christenson and I are the parents of Rocket Sue Rodriguez.

While getting to know our new little girl and making her birth announcement to share with our family and friends, we gave her the middle name Sue to give honor to Chelsea's mom Suzan "Sue" Dougall Christenson who passed away due to breast cancer, before Rocket was born.

If you have kept up with Chelsea's story on her Go FundMe & Journey Back To Health FB group , then you probably already know that we also lost Chelsea in September of last year due to her triple negative stage 4 metastatic breast cancer, even after her almost 3 years of treatment including chemotherapies, targeted radiation, and many alternative therapies. So many days and nights of torture and pain that finally ended in her being free from it all.

May she rest in peace and love.

Chelsea's passing has taken a massive tole on those that loved her the most, those left behind.

Rocket and I have been slowly picking up the pieces and move through each day trying to learn how to live without her loving mother in our lives. Keeping her legacy with us each day, talking about the memories and saying hi to her and the monarchs as they fly by.

Rocket has grown a lot in the past year, she has been through so much in just a few years of life that no child should have to. Through all those adversities, she has impressed me. She formed stronger relationships with more of her family through the transition after her mother's passing.

Her relationship with her great grandma Pickles grew and grew before we unexpectedly lost grandma just a few months ago. We are thankful for the time they did get to spend together, such a blessing.

Rocket entered Pre-K this year and loved it. She made friends, went on field trips, learned new skills and had an overall nurturing and educational experience that she really enjoyed and is excited to go back to. Her school in Ventura was just blocks from her Nani, my mom, who has stepped in heavily to support Rocket and I in our daily routines, meals, pickups and drops offs from school etc. We are very thankful for her and for all of the family and friends that have come in to love and support us through it all.

Now that summer is upon us, school is out summer camp is in and with myself working full time, and selling art whenever I can, it's been very difficult to pay for all the things myself. As the heat is rising lately so are the expenses. Finances have just been tight, very tight.

During Chelsea's battle with cancer she put all of her energy into surviving to be there for Rocket and after she passed left very little to help provide for Rocket.

After many months of struggling and avoiding asking for help, I have finally decided to step way outside of my comfort zone and take a lesson from Chelsea and her talent of crowdfunding.

We could not have gone through what we went through without so many kind hearts and help from so many lovely souls. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I know Chelsea was very appreciative and wanted to show her appreciation if she could have.

Thank you to everyone who donated to Chelsea's Journey back to health campaign, those funds helped pay for some of her medical expenses, but nothing went to help Rocket after her passing.

I have made this gofundme to ask you and your community to help us get out of this financial hole and transition and into some stability. With bills stacking up we need help paying for summer camp, gas, living expenses, school & supplies and aftercare.
