Keep Art Alive in Yavapai County!

Tax deductible
Mountain Artists Guild (MAG) is one of the oldest nonprofit Visual Art Organizations in Arizona. Established in 1949 by local artists including renowned painter George Phippen, our programs aim to spread and inspire the beauty of art in our local community through education, training, and support in all aspects of the visual arts. Programs include:

Student Art Scholarships: We have been awarding scholarships to outstanding local youth in Yavapai County since 1950. We believe in empowering the next generation of artists, and supporting these talented individuals by helping further their future academic careers. This program also gives these aspiring young artists a boost of confidence from the community in the critical early stages of their career. These funds are raised directly from our local community, who buys tickets and art donated by Mountain Artist Guild Artists at MAG’s Scholarship Auctions. All donations go directly to the Scholarship Fund.

Community Art Education: For nearly 70 years, we have been sponsoring workshops led by professional artists that give the community access to fine art expertise and a chance to improve their skills.

Youth Art Education: We offer free art programs for local youth, including lessons taught by professional artists. All the necessary supplies to create unique works of art are provided by MAG for free. We hope to inspire creative young people who may not otherwise have access to artistic instruction or the world of fine art.

Studio Tour
: Mountain Artists Guild sponsors an annual Prescott Area Artist Studio Tour, of which 2017 is the 10th consecutive year. This year, sixty Master Artists and four Art Centers were selected by jury to open their private studios to the public during a free self-guided tour, in which artists discuss and demonstrate their medium with visitors. A portion of proceeds support free youth art programs in Prescott.

Gallery Space: Mountain Artists Guild owns and operates a gallery in downtown Prescott, which serves to promote local artists on all levels. We work to educate new and experienced artists on how to display, market and improve their work in a real working gallery setting.

We support ourselves through sponsoring festivals on Prescott’s Historic Courthouse Square twice a year. However, the funds raised are just enough to maintain our building and gallery space. This building is critical to our core programs and mission: hosting workshops, youth art programs, studio space for developing artists, and a gallery to display our members’ work.

In February of 2017, our building experienced the first of several extremely damaging floods. Due to factors beyond our control that included city road construction, severe weather, and street closures for approximately seven months, we lost important revenue that is critical to our financial survival. Although we still have a small amount of reserve funds, once those are exhausted, we will be out of business.

This is why we need your help. We are fundraising to save our Mountain Artists Guild, plain and simple. If all of our members donated $180 each, we will reach our goal. If each member asked 10 people to donate $18 each, we will reach our goal. This is doable, but we must start now and spread the word.

The loss of such an old institution that has promoted art in the community for so long would truly be tragic. Please share with all of your friends and family. For Mountain Artists Guild to continue to support the community, we, for the first time, need your financial support.

$36,000 WILL FUND 7 MONTHS OF PROGRAMMING & BUILDING COSTS

Thank you from the entire MAG family!
