How did I get into this predictament? I ask and answer this question constantly. I'm the one who helps everyone else. I don't get myself into these types of situations because I know better but here I am.
My situation started in December 2012 when my mother passed and my significant other was in the hospital in critical condition from falling 25 feet onto concrete and injuring his entire right side of his body. He now has metal down the entire right side of his body with metal plates in his hip and his ankle (no bones for the ankle just the metal plates). His arm, wrist, leg, ankle and foot had to have the bones reconstructed around metal or replaced with metal.
But I digress. My mother passed away the same month as my significant other's accident. I had to travel to Pennsylvania to assist with her funeral needs. After her funeral, I called her debtors to let them know that she had passed and to close out her accounts. Unbeknownst to me that I didn't have to pay her bills off to close them out, I paid them off which began my financial spiral.
I have been behind with rent and utilities since then and it's getting worse (not better). I pay back to back rent foregoing my utilities and I'm still behind by two months. Once I pay, the next month rolls in and puts me back to being behind by two months. My electric has been shut off as well. I tried paying that along with the back to back rent but one month I wasn't able to pay so I finally got behind with my electric bill and they shut me off. My rental company has told me that I need to get the electric back on as soon as possible or they could evict me for not having electric (I didn't know they could do that).
I'm asking for assistance to get my rent paid in full and my electric paid in full. Once these are back on track, my financial problems would deminish. I have plans in the making but can't move forward with them without getting back on financial track.
My son and I would like to go to Nicaragua with my church on mission to bring clean drinking water and sanitation to a small town with the El Porvenir group (www.elporvenir.org). I'd like to finally marry my significant other who is waiting for us to get back on track financially. I'd like to just not live paying back to back rent with no end in sight.
Since his accident, my significant other is in constant pain (even though he doesn't think I know) and he cannot stand more than a couple of hours without it becoming painful. The inclement weather has him in bed all day and he can't find a job (he was layed off after his accident and year and a half recovery). He's applied for disability but was turned down so now we are getting the help of a lawyer to help us with resubmitting his paperwork.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. I have a BA in communications and am willing to provide services (newsletters, cards, certificates, programs, invitations, etc.) to those who can help and would like me to help them.
