End Gentrification in Pittsburgh

Donation protected
Hello! My name is Andy, and I just moved back to what I consider the greatest city in the world. I have spent my whole life here, and every day I see a problem that Pittsburghers should not tolerate. Every day, we push the poor and minorities farther away from the ammenities and infrastructure that they need to make it. The transformation of East Liberty is a glaring example, but this is occuring in several Pittsburgh neighborhoods right now, and has been an unfortunate tradition since the construction of the Civic Arena in 1967.

This summer/fall, I will be embarking on a journey to thru-hike the Appalacian Trail. This means that over the next 5 months, I will walk over 2100 miles between Georgia and Maine.

Although this has very little to do with gentrification, I am trying to use the platform of my adventure to make a positive impact, however small. For every dollar you donate, I will match (up to  $500). Every cent will go to the Hill District Consensus Group, which you can check out at http://www.hdcg.org/. In addition, if you donate in your name, I will personally send you a page from my journal along the trail.

Please feel free to email me at [email redacted] if you have any questions about my goal, or if you want to know more about thru hiking. I appreciate taking the time to read my little blurb, but please consider donating! Thanks!
