Cancer is expensive. Help Tony out.

Donation protected
Cancer???  This is NOT what I had in mind when I said I would love to meet a few nurses.

I’ve got advanced stage cancer. Now what?
Quite frankly, at this point what I’m trying to do is somehow manage to keep my livelihood from falling apart, pay bills and I try my best to get the best cancer care I can to ensure my survival.

How is donated money used?
Cancer has made a train wreck of things… Most days I can’t work due to being sick and/or constantly going to cancer related appointments and procedures. I’m about to start chemo and radiation at the same time.  All of that has made it impossible to somehow manage to pay all my bills and keep my livelihood going.  Cancer is expensive. I’m just trying to stay alive and make ends meet at this point.

So far…
Getting the initial diagnosis was a particularly difficult and scary experience that lasted several weeks of wondering if it was already too late. My cancer was already advanced enough that I was rushed through a gauntlet of tests, procedures, outpatient surgery every day for weeks to figure out the exact staging

Colorectal Cancer
(specifically rectal) Moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma General Staging: Stage IIIb w/local metastasis

TNM Staging:
T3N1bM0 stage 3 solid tumor, local metastasis in 2 to 3 regional lymph nodes, no evidence yet of distant metastasis

Advanced Stage III or possibly Stage IV Metastatic Colorectal cancer.

It’s a really close call. Complications include: Severe blood iron deficiency and low hemoglobin.

Stage III = 20-30% chance of survival
Stage 4 = Incurable, likely dead in less than 2 years, possibly dead before Xmas .

The past few years has been tough for everyone, including me. I’ve independently worked hard to take care of myself and my dog Maya as well as do my best to look after my friends and neighbors and occasionally help a stranger in need too. Usually, I’m the one so many people regularly turned to for help and I’d do what I can.  Things were good… until they were bad… really bad.

THEN THINGS GOT BAD… and now I’m racing against time to beat advanced stage colorectal cancer and stay alive.  Thankfully, I have health insurance but it doesn’t cover everything. Fighting cancer like this has completely derailed my life. Too sick to work most days, my livelihood is at risk, my life is at risk and my days are now a gauntlet of doctors appointments, CT, MRI, PET scans, biopsies, surgeries, resulting in continual bad news that keeps getting worse.

So much stress and anxiety, my dog Maya has to take anxiety meds too.
