Help Jesús (ChuCho) Pérez Recover!

Jesús ChuCho Pérez has been an organizer and advocate in San Francisco for decades, first working to support immigrant laborers, and for the last several decade working with the Coalition on Homelessness to end poverty and homelessness. In addition to being at the heart of homeless organizing, he is also a wonderful father to his daughter and grandfather to her three children, as well as an animal lover, helping the family care for their three dogs, three cats, 6 chickens, and hamster Oreo.

Last month Jesús suffered a heart attack while in the office and was rushed to the hospital, where he was treated first for the heart attack and then for an infection. After being released he returned home to his daughter and grandchildren he suffered a stroke an is currently in a physical therapy clinic learning how to use his muscles, to walk, and to breath again.

ChuCho was homeless for many years in San Francisco before joining the Coalition on Homelessness and eventually finding housing. Today he serves on the Board of Directors but his daily contributions are what make him so dear to all of our hearts. He is truly the life blood of our office, helping keep the space clean, working with clients that come in needing housing, and befriending every dog that walks through the door.

After decades of giving himself to our community, ChuCho needs us to give back. He needs funding right now for equipment. Your donation will go toward getting him a shower chair, a walker with a seat, a fingertip heart rate monitor, and oxygen tanks that he needs while he continues the struggle to relearn how to breath.
