Dear Friends,
The following letter is from my niece Jennifer. She is in the fight of her life. Her most urgent need is $23,100.00 for the medical treatment that is best suited for her. Her airfare is covered but she will need funds to meet her living expenses while she is unable to work. The treatment center has recommended she start therapy as soon as she can get there.
The goal is $30,00.00 it may sound like a lot but it's a little if we all share and chip in. Your support will save a life. Thank-you in advance for your generosity.
Love,
Diann French aka Aunt Diann
Help a Veteran get her life back.
In June 2017 I found a lump in my breast that was a little smaller than a golf ball. I had an ultrasound done right away and was told that it was just a cyst and to only come back if it got a lot bigger. I kept an eye on it and by November it was the size of a large lemon so I went back to the doctor. This is when my world got turned upside down. Stage 3 breast cancer and it had spread into my lymph nodes.
For those of you that know me you know that I’ve always been into health and fitness. Taking care of my body and working hard have always been very important to me so I can help others. Professionally as part of my career in the fitness industry as a personal training and group fitness instructor, and the 9 years I was active duty in the Air Force. As well as personally to help those that aren’t physically able to do the things they once could. Yes, I’m one of those crazy people that call manual labor fun!
When I found out I had cancer I was shocked to say the least. I immediately started doing research to see what I could do to help my body fight this. What I discovered was in nutrition, rest, exercise, and stress reduction. All of these things help to build up your immune system so it can fight. Makes sense to me! What didn’t make sense was when my doctor said that I will need chemo and radiation to shrink the tumor as much as possible then remove everything. The chemo and radiation are designed to destroy cells. Good and bad. That means it’s destroying the one thing I have fighting for me, my immune system. Not to mention a side effect of chemo and radiation is cancer. But I felt that I had no other option for treatment so I started chemo and have continued to do my part to eat healthy, as much as the terrible side effects will allow.
What my doctor wants to do next is removal of my breasts and lymph nodes. The side effects of surgery would change my life forever.
-I'd be at risk of lymphedema for the rest of my life. To minimize the risk I wouldn’t be able to carry a purse on my right side and traveling by plane would be out
-Permanent increased risk of infection. With fewer lymph nodes my immune system wouldn’t be able to fight off even minor infections and diseases. Mud runs would be out of the question and even the gym would become a risky environment. I would need to be on guard all the time.
-Potential permanent numbness and tingling.
Along my journey I have discovered there are alternative treatments that have a greater success rate than the traditional chemo, radiation, and surgery. It’s exactly the type of treatment that will help me get my life back! The treatment focus is on building up the immune system and treating the cancer at the cellular level with my own DNA and no surgery. Insurance doesn’t cover this type of treatment though. This is why I’m asking for your help.
God designed me to be a worker. Please help me to get my life back so I can get back to work and back to helping others.
Thank you!
Jennifer
