Help Refugees Visit Their Familes
Donation protected
We are Karen refugees from Myanmar ( Burma) whose families fled to Thailand where we stayed in various refugee camps for more than 10 years until we were settled in a safe place of Chapel Hill/Carrboro, North Carolina. It's been about10 years since many of us migrated over to the United States. With the recent changes that are occuring in Myanmar, we would like to the opportunity to visit friends and family that are still in the refugee camps in Thailand and perhaps some of us can go to see some that are in Burma. Although recent changes are made in Myanmar (Burma), our families are still in camps, and these camps aren't safe, the civil war between the Burmese and the karen Army is still ongoing. Help us visit our families, as it would make us happy seeing them smile one day.
We are hoping to go during the Summer of 2018. We are starting fundraising now because we don't know how long it would take. The funds would be used for plane tickets, ground transportation, food and accomodation.
Please help us to make this a reality. It would mean a lot to us to be able to reconnect with our culture as well as long lost family and friends.
Eh Mu Ra, Paw Ray and John Hite were interviewed on the radio (WCHL) on July 25th. You can read about and stream/listen to the interview: http://chapelboro.com/news/international/karen-refugees-hoping-to-see-home-again
