Subject: Letter of Inquiry for the Preservation and Restoration of Kidane Mehret Church, a Pillar of Faith and Community Support:

Kidane Mehret Church, a significant member of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (EOTC), seeking your support to overcome a critical challenge that threatens our existence and continued service to our community. The EOTC is one of the world’s oldest Christian denominations, deeply rooted in Ethiopian culture and spiritual life, with unique traditions and practices that have been preserved over centuries. Kindane Meheret Church, established 29 years ago as the first EOTC church in the state of Virginia, has become a cornerstone in the local community, providing essential services and spiritual guidance to its members and neighbors.

Since its establishment our church has played a transformative role, contributing significantly to the upliftment and positive change within the community. The City of Alexandria Police can attest to our positive impact, highlighting how our presence and faith-based interventions have fostered a safer and more harmonious environment. Our church has been more than a place of worship; it has been a beacon of hope, offering settlement and integration services for newly arrived families, a Sunday school for children, caretaking for the elderly, temporary housing for the homeless, food distribution, and much more within our small church spaces.

However, today, we find ourselves in a dire situation. After enduring the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, our church has been closed for over one year due to structural and compliance issues with our service quarters. Despite a lack of funds prevented us from hiring contractors for necessary renovations, leading to non-compliance with current fire codes. The requirement to demolish our service quarters has left us without essential facilities and the ability to safely gather for worship.In light of these challenges,we are seeking $500,000. 00. to overcome our current obstacles to reopen our place of worship.

በመሆኑም ይሆንን የተጋረጠዉን ችግር ለአንዴና ለመጨረሻ ጊዜ በመቋጨት የተዘጋዉ ደጇ ተከፍቶ የወትሮዉ የቤተክርስቲያኗ ግልጋሎት ይመለስ ዘንድ ከእናተ ከቅድስት ድንግል ማርያም ወዳጆች ጋር በመሆን ቤተክርስቲያኗን የገንዘብ ድጋፍ በማድረግ ለሚያስፈልጉት የማስተካከያ ስራዎች የገንዘብ አስተዋፅኦ ታደርጉ ዘንድ ለዚህ ጉዳይ ብቻ በህንፃ አሰሪያ ኮሚቴ በተቀመጠዉ የባንክ አካዉንት በኩል የበኩሎዉን የገንዘብ ድጋፍ ያደርጉ ዘንድ ከልብ ሆነን እንማፀናለን።
