Hi, my name is Tori and I'm trying to help raise money for my sister, Ashton.

If you haven't had the pleasure of meeting her yet, that's absolutely unfortunate because she is probably the most kind and sweetest person ever. She's been a rock for me in every aspect of my life and at home, she has a devoted husband and two wonderful young sons.

On September 12th, she drove herself to Avera emergency department. The reason? She had been bleeding non-stop for two weeks after losing her IUD, and at that point had become extremely weak.

Blood tests had determined her hemoglobin was at 6 g/dL. The average levels for an adult woman being 11.6–15 g/dL. She immediately received a blood transfusion. An ultrasound was ordered to get a better clue at what could be the cause, and they found a rather large fibroid inside her uterus. She was admitted to the hospital overnight to be monitored, and was pumped with hormones to try to stop the bleeding, but that was unsuccessful. She receive yet another blood transfusion before eventually being told to go home and wait for her doctor to consult with her.

Now something similar to this happened to her five years ago, where she began to hemorrhage after losing an IUD. When that happened, she needed multiple blood transfusions.

After consulting with her doctor, they came up with a solution to this problem so that it couldn't happen again. Friday, September 16th, she will be going into the surgical center and having a hysterectomy performed. Recovery time for this type of surgery can last between 6-8 weeks.

I'm asking our family and friends to help her through this tough time. She will be out of work for some time, and needs help with bills and medical expenses. Please consider helping if you can, and thank you.
