Henrietta's Life Saving ER & ICU Stay
Donation protected
Hello! If you know me, you know I love my fur babies with all of my heart. You probably also know that Henrietta, my 10 year old silky terrier, is my favorite of the three! If you've met her, you know she is a spunky and happy girl who loves to hike, gorge herself on food, snuggle and give kisses to anyone who meets her! She is the sweetest little pup.
Unfortunately, we almost lost her on Wednesday night. She was vomiting all day on Wednesday after eating a treat bone she'd never had before on Tuesday afternoon. When she was lethargic and had labored breathing on Wednesday night, her older sister Hadley wouldn't leave her side... she was crying and shaking and that's when I knew that she was trying to tell me that Henrietta was gravely ill and needed to go to the hospital. I rushed her to the ER, where the emergency vets told me she would likely not make it through the night. They told me to say my goodbyes which was absolutely devastating! It was a harrowing and terrifying ordeal.
Well my little fighter survived the night and has been getting progressively better!! She should be coming home on Saturday night after 3 nights in the Intensive Care Unit at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital. We are so incredibly grateful to the amazing veterinarians and specialists there who saved Henrietta's life and have provided amazing ongoing care for her as she recovers from anaphylaxis and sepsis.
While I am so happy that my baby is alive, I could never have predicted that these life-saving interventions could have cost so much. As an elementary school science teacher, I have been put in a very vulnerable position financially. There is no question that these treatments were 100% worth it when it comes to a previously healthy, young dog!! However, not so healthy for my finances!
I am hoping that friends, family, neighbors, and other members of Hank's fan club will be able to donate and little by little we will maybe reach the goal. Thank you for reading, loving Henry, and hopefully donating a bit if you can. Please share the link far and wide if you are able. Much Love, Lydia, Hadley , Sebastian , and Henrietta
