Home Burglarized & Business Lost
Donation protected
Our friend, Jung Sook (owner of Henry’s Gallery Cafe at 17th and Franklin Street in Oakland) had his apartment burglarized on June 16th during broad daylight. The thieves took everything: money, appliances, passports, down to the dishes. Jung and his wife, like many immigrants, did not keep their money in banks, and did not have insurance. His entire savings, including tuition for his son’s final year in college, is gone.
In addition to the devastating burglary of his home, Jung is being forced to close his business, Henry’s Gallery Cafe, because the landlord will not renew his lease after 10 years (to make way for a more upscale client in this increasingly gentrified area of Oakland).
While nothing can help with the feeling of victimization and loss, any donation is extremely appreciated and will go towards Jung’s son’s college tuition and helping Jung and his family get back on their feet.
Thank you!
