HEPA air purifiers for Jacksonville teachers

Jacksonville teachers are at the epicenter of the current COVID surge and are desperately in need of air purifiers to help keep themselves and their students safe.

This GoFundMe was started for that purpose. So far the funds have been used to purchase 29 purifiers. Private donors have purchased 12 purifiers and Hathaspace has donated an additional 10. There was a study posted by the CDC (https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/70/wr/mm7027e1.htm ) showing that universal masking can reduce the overall exposure of COVID-19 by 72%. When HEPA air purifiers were combined with universal masking the overall exposure was reduced by 90%. A separate NASA study (https://ntrs.nasa.gov/api/citations/20170005166/downloads/20170005166.pdf) showed that HEPA filters are 99.99% effective at capturing ultrafine particles of 0.01 micron which is below the 0.3 micron HEPA test standard; COVID-19 is approximately 0.125 micron in diameter. 

Teachers and students need these safety measures in place now and we cannot afford to wait on federal COVID relief funds.
