Herbalists without Borders van repair!

Last week, fascists smashed the windscreen of the van used by Herbalists without Borders (HWB) in Calais. They do this to intimidate volunteers and people organising solidarity with refugees in the region. HWB organise a monthly clinic supporting hundreds of people with first aid and herbal medicine for coughs and colds and other health conditions. On this last visit we supported 413 people living in horrific conditions in Calais and Dunkirk, experiencing intense police violence and risking their lives to cross the Channel.

 

There is an ongoing battle with the insurance company! We have glass cover on our insurance but the time it has taken to approve means that people have had to stay behind and wait for it to be fixed who urgently need to get back to the UK. Therefore we have had to go private and try to reclaim the costs afterwards. If the insurance pays out then any money raised will be donated to HWB or can be refunded (get in touch if you need it refunded).

 

A picture of the invoice is attached. It's an eye-wateringly expensive cost at £1228. We also had to hire a van in order to not let the fascists disrupt our work. Please support if you have the financial resources!
