Lauren is the nicest person around. She always has a smile on her face, a funny story to share and she's the most loving and devoted mother to her son.
In 2 years time, Lauren got married to her husband Chris, welcomed her first child Waylon, turned 30 and was diagnosed with cancer.
After feeling like she had the flu, a routine doctors appointment turned more sinister when bloodwork came back suggesting something bigger was happening. Further testing resulted in a suspected cancer diagnosis, then biopsies confirmed cancer on Lauren's thyroid.
This month Lauren will undergo surgery to have her thyroid and surrounding lymph nodes removed. Following surgery, Lauren may receive radiation therapy (pending surgical findings) and continued medical support.
While the cancer came as a shock to Lauren and her family, she is strong and determined to beat cancer and get on the road to recovery.
This unexpected life event has brought medical expenses to Lauren and her young family that are not fully covered by their insurance. This GoFundMe campaign will help their family cover medical costs from Lauren's diagnosis (multiple ultrasounds, 2 cat scans and 2 biopsies), her surgery and hospital stay, and the post surgical treatments she will receive. With great hesitation, she and her family agreed to let me candidly share her story and ask others for help during her recovery. I hope that by starting this campaign we can come together to help ease the financial burden that comes along with the cancer diagnosis.
