Hermann and Leslie Ederle

Hi, my name is Valerie Crane and I live in AZ. I am doing this Go Fund Me for my parents, Hermann and Leslie Ederle, who were affected by Hurricane Ian. As all of you may have seen the devastation of Hurricane Ian that hit Florida earlier this week, my parents lived through it. Thankfully they were able to evacuate just in time with the clothes on their backs and their 3 dogs. They are currently staying in a hotel on the east coast side of the state, 4 hours away from what's left of their home. My parents have worked very hard their entire lives and were settled into a beautiful piece of paradise in St James City, FL. They were living in a small trailer while they were building their little forever home. Their home was almost completed and they were so excited for their future. They dumped their entire retirement into making their little forever home. Ian took that all away. They have not been able to get back onto the Island as there are no functioning roads or bridges left to access. A neighbor who bravely stayed behind confirmed their trailer was underwater and would never be habitable again. As for the home they were building, it was destroyed down to the soil it lay upon. Local authorities say it will be months before there are any services on the island, so Pine Island will likely be a ghost town for months to come. There are no utilities and those could take 4-6 months to get up and running. Basically, all residents or people who stayed behind are being evacuated. Nothing is salvageable due to the flooding and muck in the water. My parents are starting over. Our family is asking for any donation; nothing is too small. If you cannot donate, we humbly ask that you could share this with others, and prayers are always welcome. The funds will be used to go towards housing, clothing, medical, food and basic necessities for survival. We are devasted for all that have endured the past week of loss and we pray for healing strength. Thank you, Valerie
